Love #3
2008, Assemblage
Found branch and kite made of tissue paper and wood. This piece speaks
to the duality of life as an individual and life as a mate/parent. The kite
was blowing in the wind, but now is "caught." It was free, but its fate
could only be to fall to the ground and cease flying, or to fly up into the
stratosphere lost forever. I suppose someone could retrieve it to return it
to the sky periodically, the kite's fate the whim of another. But here in
the tree it remains in the air (its home) and yet cannot move about. It is
cupped/embraced and trapped. It is loved and loves.
